Sail with Statsraad Lehmkuhl from the paradise island of Mauritius to Maputo in Mozambique! A 12 day dream voyage in the Indian Ocean! December 5 - 17, 2022.
NB: This voyage is sold out
From chalk-white beaches and palm trees, we set sail from Mauritius and embark on a pleasant, but exciting, journey across the Indian Ocean. For 12 days we will teach you how to sail a big tall ship and at the same time show you a world at sea that we promise will create memories for life. According to Statsraad Lehmkuhl's experienced captain, we can expect comfortable temperatures and a lot of sailing on the trip to Africa.
The port of arrival, Maputo, is the capital of Mozambique, and is located in the eastern part of southern Africa. Maputo has an international airport, which makes it easy to return home. If you are ready for more adventures, Maputo is an excellent gateway to divine places. Its a short way to nature reserves and beautiful beaches. Maputo itself has the charm of a city influenced by different cultures. Mozambique borders South Africa.
Magic nights at sea
The days at sea will be an adventure for everyone who love nature, unity and sailing. But the nights on board a large sailing ship are a very special experience. Standing at the helm under a crystal clear, quiet starry sky in the middle of the sea, far away from the noise and lights of the land, are beautiful moments that creates memories for life.
With no internet or phone coverage, the voyage also becomes a long and long-awaited "detox" from everyday focus on digital accessibility. (Of course: The ships´s crew has a satellite phone for communication and safety purposes.)
Our own little world at sea
During the crossing of the Indian Ocean, the people on board will create their own small community out at sea. We sail the ship together and share the wonderful moments with each other. Far away from the rest of the world, we get plenty of time to sail, relax, learn good seamanship, talk to each other and "find peace". The trainees and the ships´s crew become a team when we sail. Everyone stands up for each other, pays attention and takes care of each other. Close ties and lasting friendships arise on such a wonderful journey. Surrounded by the sea, a unique unity is created on board that becomes part of you, even long after the journey is over.
Everyone can sail with us!
Do you lack experience with sailing? No need to worry! You do not need any previous knowledge or experience to join a voyage with Statsraad Lehmkuhl! Many of our trainees muster on a large sailing ship for the first time when they come up our gangway. At Statsraad Lehmkuhl, we have been training seafarers for a hundered year. Our friendly and professional crew will take good care of you.
Life on board
A sailing voyage is a lively and sociable endeavour. As a trainee on Statsraad Lehmkuhl, you become an important part of the ship's crew. You will stand watch, sleep in a hammock, and help sail and generally run the ship. The atmosphere on board is friendly and informal. Sensible clothes that can withstand weather and wind, shared meals and nice conversations with new friends.
All meals included
Included in the ticket are all meals; breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as a night snack for the security teams. All meals are prepared by our skilled galley staff. When we ask our trainees what they liked best about the voyage, the food always comes high on the list. So there is a lot of good food to look forward to!
An environmentally friendly adventure
An adventure with Statsraad Lehmkuhl is an environmentally friendly way of travelling, since nearly 70% of our voyages are completed under sail each year. And with our newly installed revolutionary hybrid battery solution, Statsraad Lehmkuhl is becoming the world´s most environmentally friendly sailing ship in its class.
The tall ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl
Statsraad Lehmkuhl was built in Germany in 1914 and is one of the largest, fastest, and definitely the most beautiful, tall ship in the world. She has served as a training vessel under the Norwegian flag for a century, and we take pride in keeping her in top condition. Sailing this magnificent ship is truly a unique experience. The very special atmosphere and feelings of friendship, seamenship and teamwork guarantee you memories for life.
Welcome on board Statsraad Lehmkuhl´s first crossing of The Indian Ocean!
